David Benson & Associates (DB&A) specializes in the areas of estate planning, philanthropy, and related communications for charitable and non-profit organizations. Although we are independent contractors, we prefer to function as a part-time member of your development staff working with donors that you identify. DB&A will provide donor/prospect contact as directed and initiated by you for the purpose of estate and deferred gift planning, structuring outright gifts, preparing proposals, assisting with document preparation, and establishing and maintaining contact with donors, their advisors and families.

Donors identified for consultation with DB&A will be scheduled by you with at least seven days' notice from DB&A to allow for both adequate lead-time and necessary flexibility. Full documentation, including Appointment Call Reports, copies of proposals, and all pertinent correspondence with the donor(s) will be provided to you on a monthly basis. DB&A will also be available for review of donor/prospect contacts each quarter.

As a part of your development team, we will be pleased to assist in evaluating your deferred and major gift program. This might include some staff training or assisting you with specialized print or video communications needs.

We are also open to providing services in the area of proposal preparation, jointly made donor/prospect calls, and transferring working relationships with donor to client staff as appropriate.

Our methods of working on your behalf will be advantageous to you, the donors, their families and advisors. The expected result is significant support to your organization and a fresh list of high-level prospects referred by the donors and/or their advisors.

Travel plans and arrangements for DB&A are subject to your approval and are made on the basis of cost and efficiency. Likewise, your approval will be secured before engaging any outside specialists such as appraisers, environmental auditors, accountants or attorneys. Your cost for DB&A principals is $185 per hour, $650 per half day or $1,200 per day plus expenses. Other services such as communications are quoted individually on an hourly or a per-job basis.
