David Benson is a planned giving and estate planning specialist. With 30 years of management and development experience at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, he was part of one of the most successful small college fund-raising and institutional advancement programs in the country. He has played an integral role in capital campaigns that have generated approximately $100,000,000 and has been responsible for securing major and planned gifts of approximately $75,000,000 for the charities involved.

While still a member of the Concordia staff, he launched a part-time consulting business which subsequently grew into a full-time commitment. Currently he offers a complete range of services including program planning and review; staff training and development; seminars for professionals and donor prospects; and assistance with follow-up and closing. He is a frequent speaker at local regional and national conferences.

His client list includes, health care foundations, colleges and universities, social service agencies and community foundations. Accessible Space Inc. (St. Paul,MN), Benedictine Health System (Duluth, MN), College of Pharmacy - North Dakota State University (Fargo, ND), The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Foundation (Chicago, IL), Northwest Minnesota Foundation (Bemidji, MN), Valley Memorial Foundation (Grand Forks, ND), Luther College (Decorah, IA) and Wartburg College (Waverly, IA) are among the list of current clients.

Mr. Benson has a B.A. in sociology and psychology from Concordia College (MN), and a M.A. in guidance and counseling from North Dakota State University. He attended the Education Specialist Program at the University of Minnesota and graduated from Harvard University’s Institute for Educational Management. David is a member of the American Council on Gift Annuities (ACGA), Association of Lutheran Development Executives (ALDE), Minnesota Planned Giving Council (MPGC), and the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE).
